College Basketball Bracket Contest - Tournament Bracket 2010 – College Finals Brackets Contest

There is a selection committee that chooses the teams for the March Madness tournament. The same committee selects the teams for both the men's and women's tournaments. The members of this committee include conference commissioners and university athletic directors. The meetings are held between Thursday and Sunday, just before the date of the first game of the tournament. The final decision is taken on Sunday. It is popularly known as the ‘Selection Sunday’. The committee announces the decision on television.
The Final Four Broadcasters
From 1963 to 1968, the final four games have been broadcasted by SNI. From 1969 to 1981, NBC had the license to broadcast the final four games of the tournament. Since 1982, CBS has been broadcasting the games. The year 1982 is also remarkable because the Selection Show was broadcasted that year for the first time in the history of NCAA tournaments.
March Madness Reality Byte
UCLA men's basketball team holds the record of winning the maximum number of titles of March Madness NCAA tournaments. They have won the title 11 times.
One interesting thing is that UCLA won the first ten titles in a row from 1964 to 1975. They missed the 1966 title when they were defeated in the final four rounds.
ULCC won the first ten titles under the legendary coach John Wooden.
After the beginning of the seeding system, there have been only five teams which entered the tournament ranked #1 and they also emerged the winners of the title. These teams include Kentucky (1978), North Carolina (1982), Duke (1992 AND 2001), UCLA (1995) and Michigan State (2000).
As per the seeding system and the format of the tournament, it is not possible for a team to defeat all four #1 seeds in a single tournament.
Arizona has been the only team that defeated three #1 seeds in a single tournament.
In the entire history of NCAA tournaments, a #1 seed has never lost in the first round to a #16 seed.
As per the tournament tradition, the winning champion is also given the floor from the championship venue to keep. It varies from team to team what exactly they do with the floor. Some teams break it into pieces and sell it to their fans.
Florida has been the only team to use the floor in their venue after repainting the same. They did it recently, in 2006.
Bi-Lo Center and Colonial Center in South Carolina are the two arenas that have been banned by NCAA from hosting tournament games.
30 points is the largest margin of victory in a championship game. UNLV did it in the year 1990 when they defeated Duke by 103- 73.
1 point is of course, the smallest margin of victory in a championship game. It happened six times in the history of March Madness tournaments.
65 teams are invited to play the tournament, but one team is eliminated even before the real tournament begins. The 64th and 65th seed play a qualifying game, for starters.
