Tips for betting on March Madness

By: A. Aguilar

Tips for betting

The basketball tournament season in March is when gamblers and fans of the sport get out of the shadows and get ready for arguably the best sports action before the start of the football season.

In many cases, the basketball tournament season will prove to be advantageous for making money at gambling, but equally, there are many more angles to be considered during this season.

In the first round games, mainly those from 5 to 12, it’s preferred to choose the non-favorite and purchase points. As many are aware, the people in charge of the creation of lines and odds on these tournaments know that there is a tendency for the bettors to prefer the underdog teams.

Beware the Dominant Guardians, a common trap when betting on college basketball tournaments.

The fact is there are more central guardians. Therefore, a smart bet for the tournament is based on the "law of averages"; since most of the teams that advance to the finals are those that have more keepers.

Do not bet on all matches

When it comes to betting in college basketball tournaments, you do not need to bet on a game that is being televised. You can enjoy all these games from the comfort of a bar with your friends, without risking your money.

Bet only on teams that you know well

It is not advisable to bet on any team during a tournament season. Try betting on teams in your area that are members of a conference which you follow closely. Currently, there are 32 games only in the first round, so you do not need to bet on each one of them. Remember, bets in this type of competition are different from betting for a community... basically you just need to choose a good team and not choose the winner of each match.

Other advices before you bet

Be alert of the season's momentum

Check the moves of the guardians

The coach, someone who supposedly knows what he’s doing, is your best resource

Look for teams who have a star scorer, making their best shots and points

The quality and depth of players in the bench is very important
